When God created Adam and Eve, they were disobedient to God, and because of their sin, they had a price to pay. All sin has a cost, and that cost is our eternity. From the moment we take our first breath, we have sin in our hearts that keeps us from being in perfect harmony with God, and the price for that sin is death. Romans 6:23 tells us that "the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
God loves us so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus, to come to earth as a man so that He could die and pay the price for our sin. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 says that Jesus died for our sins and rose again after three days so that one day He will come back for His children.Romans 5:8 "But God commended his love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Jesus only requires us to do one thing in order to receive His free gift of salvation, and that's asking--asking for His salvation and forgiveness of our sins. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life." Without Jesus' free gift of salvation, we are left to pay the price for our sins alone.
